Christmas and the New Year’s eve should be a time of cheer and joy in which most people can set aside any difficult thoughts and gather to celebrate. However, Christmas 2020 will probably be one of the most difficult in our lives due to the pandemic we are living. We are facing the second -or third- wave, and perhaps some of your loved ones have been affected, jobs may have been lost, the economy has been deeply impacted, medical education has been severely interfered with, and some aspects of our daily lives will have undoubtedly been changed forever.
In spite of this difficult scenario, Christmas is also a time of hope for the coming New Year. This past year 2020 we were able to address all commitments with our members and with the scheduled educational projects, and there is clear data that enables us to look ahead with optimism. The challenge for 2021 is to work on our strategic plan, to prepare our next face to face 29th SECEC Congress in Poznan and to reinforce and increase our global leadership in shoulder and elbow surgery. For all these purposes your contribution is critical.
This holiday season, the hearts of all SECEC members are bound together during this difficult time. I wish you peace, strength, and hope to look to the future optimistically.
